13th Annual Monterías of the Royal Club of Hunters: A weekend to remember
On November 16 and 17 , the Real Club de Monteros (RCM) successfully held the thirteenth edition of its Annual Monterías , an event that brings together members in an environment of camaraderie, tradition and respect for hunting practices.
The event began on Friday, November 15, with a dinner at the Hotel Parque Cabañeros in Horcajo de los Montes, presided over by Ms. Carmen Basarán , president of the RCM. This meeting marked the beginning of a weekend full of activities in the heart of nature.
Organization and news
This year, the event was organized by Mr. Alberto Muñoz-Calero and his team, who were responsible for the development of the hunting sessions. Mr. Miguel Ángel Perlado Sotodosos and Mr. Pablo Fernández Gasset , the hunting captains, supervised the preparation of the spots and actively collaborated with the logistics of both days.
As a novelty, the participation of Mr. Artur Torres Pereira and Mrs. Susana Silva , president and vice president of the Clube Português de Monteiros , a homonymous association of Portugal founded in 1982, was counted on, strengthening the international ties between both countries.
First day: "The Garganta Barracks" (Anchuras)
On Saturday, November 16, the hunt took place on the "El Cuartel de la Garganta" estate, a 1,000-hectare estate, with 22 hunting packs participating. The release took place at 12:15 p.m. , generating great excitement among those present.
The day's balance was outstanding, with a total of 85 pieces collected:
- 22 deer
- 6 wild boars
- 57 deer
Among the specimens, two large deer stood out. In addition, the team from the Spanish Bloodhound Association (AEPES) , led by Álvaro Piqueras and Gustavo Gil López , collaborated in tracking wounded animals , reaffirming their commitment to AEPES.
Second day: "The Shady Side of Carbao" (Horcajo de los Montes)
On Sunday, November 17, the action moved to "La Umbría del Carbao," a farm located in Horcajo de los Montes. Although the day was somewhat windier, the weather conditions didn't stop the dogs and hunters from enjoying an intense day, especially given the abundance of wild boar in the area.
The result was also remarkable, with 48 pieces shot down:
- 21 wild boars
- 11 deer
- 16 does
A living tradition
The weekend concluded successfully, consolidating the essence of the RCM: hunting in the open, with absolute respect for hunting traditions and practices. As attendees emphasized, these days are not only a celebration of hunting, but also of the hunting family , united by a passion and commitment to nature and the hunting legacy.
